Kriptomat Wind-Down — Residual Account Support
For general wind-down information and the original announcement, visit kriptomat.io/wind-down
Kriptomat has permanently ceased all regulated services as of 30 June 2026. The platform and mobile app are no longer accessible. If your account still holds a balance, your funds are safe, segregated, and we are committed to returning them to you after you submit a claim.
Current Status
Where we are now
All three phases of the Kriptomat wind-down have been completed:
- ✓Phase 1 — Active wind-down (until 25 May 2026)
- ✓Phase 2 — Feature restrictions and deadline (26 May – 29 June 2026)
- ✓Phase 3 — Platform closure (30 June 2026)
As of 1 September 2026, account access via the Kriptomat web and mobile app has ended. The wind-down is now in its final phase — focused exclusively on supporting residual accounts and returning remaining funds to customers who have not yet submitted a claim.
Do You Still Have Funds With Us?
We have been sending monthly notifications to all customers with outstanding funds. If you have been receiving these emails, your account still holds a balance that has not yet been claimed.
If you are unsure whether you still hold funds, please contact our team at [email protected] before submitting a request.
A monthly Residual Balance Administration Fee of EUR 7.99 is applied to all accounts with unclaimed funds, in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. To stop further fees and recover your funds, please submit a Residual Asset Return Request using the form below.
Before You Submit — Read Carefully
Processing fees and minimum balance
All requests are processed manually by our wind-down team case by case. A processing fee applies to every request. If your remaining funds are insufficient to cover the applicable fee, the request cannot be processed and your balance will continue to be reduced by the monthly Residual Balance Administration Fee until it reaches zero.
If you have received an email with the subject line "Your Kriptomat account has been closed" your balance has reached zero and no further action is required.
EUR withdrawals
You will need to provide:
- Your IBAN — bank account held in your own name
- Bank name and bank country
- Recent bank statement or proof of account ownership showing your full name and IBAN
Crypto withdrawals — Kraken only
For security, fraud prevention and AML reasons, crypto withdrawals are only supported to Kraken accounts in your own name. No private wallets. No other platforms. If you do not have a Kraken account, you can open one here: https://www.kraken.com/kriptomat
You will need to provide:
- Your Kraken wallet address for the relevant asset
- Screenshot from your Kraken account confirming the address

You can find your Kraken deposit address here: support.kraken.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001093023
Processing times
Our team will review your request and contact you at the email address provided within 5 business days. Actual processing may take longer depending on the complexity of your request and any additional verification required. Requests are handled in the order they are received.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still recover my funds?
Yes. Submit a Residual Asset Return Request using the form on this page. Our team will process your request and return your funds to your bank account or Kraken wallet.
Is Kriptomat insolvent?
No. FintechX OÜ, the Estonian company behind Kriptomat, is solvent. The wind-down is an orderly cessation of regulated services — not an insolvency or bankruptcy procedure. Submitting a Residual Asset Return Request is a claim for the return of your unclaimed balance, not a creditor claim in an insolvency proceeding. Your funds are safe, and the company remains fully committed to returning them.
What is the Residual Balance Administration Fee?
A monthly administrative fee of EUR 7.99 applied to all accounts with unclaimed funds. It was introduced on 15 April 2026 as the Dormant Account Fee and reflects the cost of maintaining, safeguarding, and administering your account during the wind-down period. It is not a penalty.
Why can I no longer access my account?
The Kriptomat platform and mobile app permanently stopped working on 1 September 2026. This was communicated to all customers via multiple email notifications from 19 May 2026 onwards.
Can you exchange my crypto to EUR?
No. All trading and exchange functionality ceased on 30 June 2026. We can only return assets in the form they currently exist in your account.
Why can crypto only be sent to Kraken?
Kraken is our designated partner for the wind-down. Limiting transfers to Kraken allows us to verify wallet ownership and protect customers from sending assets to incorrect or fraudulent addresses.
What if my balance is too small to cover the fee?
If your remaining funds are insufficient to cover the manual processing fee, we are unable to process the request. Your balance will continue to decline monthly through the Residual Balance Administration Fee until it reaches zero, at which point your account will be closed automatically. You can also request upfront closure of your account by reaching out to [email protected]
Are my funds safe?
Yes. Your funds are segregated from company assets and held on a 1:1 basis — meaning every euro and every crypto asset held for you is backed by the equivalent asset held in custody. We are committed to returning every balance to its rightful owner.
How long will the wind-down team continue to process requests?
We will continue to process requests and send monthly notifications for as long as your account holds unclaimed funds. The wind-down is operated by FintechX OÜ — the same company that operated the Kriptomat platform — with a dedicated wind-down team. You will be notified of any changes, including in the event of a formal liquidation of the company, if you still hold a balance at that time.
Who is managing the wind-down?
The wind-down is managed by FintechX OÜ, the company that operated the Kriptomat platform. A dedicated wind-down team and wind-down manager continue to operate with limited resources on behalf of the company. All obligations to customers remain the responsibility of FintechX OÜ.
What happens to my personal data?
We are legally required to retain identity and transaction records for a minimum of five years after the end of your account relationship, in accordance with Estonian AML law. Non-mandatory data will be deleted. Your data will not be used for any other purpose.
